“YINOC”

Empowering At-Risk Youth in Northside Richmond

The YINOC Youth Program is a transformative initiative designed to equip at-risk youth in Northside and beyond with essential skills, mentorship, and opportunities. Our mission is to guide the next generation toward a brighter future by providing the tools they need to succeed in life and avoid the traps of gang involvement, crime, and hopelessness.

  • The Mission

YINOC exists to empower young people with:

    • Personal Growth: Mentorship and spiritual development to help build character and resilience.

    • Vocational Training: Hands-on skills in carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, and more.

    • Employment Opportunities: Preparing youth for a living wage job by utilizing soft and hard skills trainings.

    • Community Engagement: Instilling pride and responsibility through service projects and leadership opportunities.

    • Crime Prevention: Offering constructive alternatives to gang involvement and crime.

  • Who We Serve

YINOC targets youth aged 14-21 from the RVA community. This critical age group is at high risk for negative influences but is also the most open to positive change. Our focus is on those facing challenges like poverty, unstable homes, or a lack of role models.

  • Program Highlights

We offer a comprehensive program that includes:

    • Vocational Training: Workshops in trades like carpentry, HVAC, and electrical work, plus computer skills and certifications.

    • Mentorship: One-on-one relationships with trained volunteers who provide guidance and encouragement.

    • Spiritual Development: Bible studies, prayer groups, and spiritual mentoring to nurture faith and ethical values.

    • Recreational Activities: Sports, arts, and team-building exercises that promote fitness, creativity, and teamwork.

    • Community Service: Opportunities to give back through local service projects.

  • The Impact

    By joining YINOC, youth will:

    • Gain valuable trade skills and certifications for future careers.

    • Develop self-esteem and confidence through mentorship.

    • Steer clear of negative influences like gangs and drugs.

    • Build a sense of community pride and responsibility.
